One of my favorite parts about building a bike is making the sissy bar. There's just something very satisfying about breaking out the torch and manipulating a straight round bar into something new and interesting.
The technique many people use is to weld steel slugs to a plate and bend around them. That's a thing of the past with the CTNEWMAN ENGINEERING SISSY BAR BENDING FIXTURE. Take some basic measurements , then lay out your design on one of the included layout sheets, then set up the fixture based on that layout. Grab your oxy-acetylene torch and start bending. No need to weld, grind or cut. Simple to use for one-offs, but also great for shops who need to make several of the same bar.
FEATURES/INCLUDES:
- For use with 5/8 solid round bar. (In my opinion, the perfect diameter sissy bar)
- Main support table can be used as a very sturdy small welding fixture table: 12"W x 18"L x 3" H
- Hardened 4140 steel top bending die with very tight inside radius for a classic look.
- Hardened 4140 steel lower quick change bending dies. Built in heat shield to protect spring and handle. 4 are included. Extras are available for making more bends in one setup.
- Spring loaded quick change pins with all-metal construction
- "Wizard's hat" clamp: allows you to put a little bit of layback on the top of your sissy bar
- Main clamp: holds sissy bar in place after making top bends. Top bends can be done with the top spool OR use the main plate and quick change spools to make a unique top section, move it up on the fixture and clamp it down, then bend the bottom section.
- Support wings keep the sissy bar flat and can be marked to provide a bend reference
- Support wing clamps can be used to lock the sissy bar in place, as needed. Or use them as a "bend-to" reference
- Heavy duty 7GA and 1/4" steel construction with tab and slot construction. You weld with no measuring required.

ADDITIONAL ITEM REQUIRED:
- Everything to use the kit is included EXCEPT a 2 X 2 X 1/8" wall steel tube. (Actually can use any wall thickness). The tube needs to be 12" longer than the tallest sissy bar you plan to make. Having it "too long" is not an issue; in fact, the excess 2" tube can be inserted into a truck hitch receiver to give you a sturdy mounting stand.
EXTRA/REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE:
- LOWER BENDING DIE COMPLETE ASSEMBLY: Includes, spool, spring, lock pin, hub sleeve and steel base plates. Sold in a set of two. Use it for making more than 4 bends on the main plate.
- SPARE LOWER SPOOLS: Replace your bending spools if they're damaged
- SPARE TOP DIE: Replace your top die if it becomes damaged
- CUSTOM size spools: Need another material diameter or bend radius? I can custom make a set of spools for you.
